Barack Obama

As the 44th president of the United States of America, Barack Obama has done more than win an election, but inspire a nation. He was born in Hawaii to an African-American father and a white mother who moved him to Indonesia for a short time when he was young. This culturally rich background made him embrace the diversity of the United States. He first appeared in the political spotlight in the Illinois State Senate in 1996. There, just like in the Presidential Campaign, Obama won the approval of many unexpected citizens such as first time voters and young African-Americans. Obama won the 2008 Presidential Election and took office in January 2009. Today, he stands up for middle and lower class families’ taxation and health care. Republican or Democrat, all people must have respect for a man with such great determination that he could overcome stereotypes and prejudice to succeed.

“Change will not come if we wait for some other person or some other time. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We are the change that we seek.”
